Why is this happening to me?

If your body has started doing things that make no sense, you're not imagining it. Something is out of balance, and it can be measured.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Tap every one you've noticed.

Most women never connect these to their hormones. They're more connected than you think.

It's not just one hormone

These symptoms usually come from three things happening at the same time:

Estrogen dominance

It's not only how much estrogen you have. It's the ratio of progesterone to estrogen, and when that ratio is off, especially in perimenopause, the symptoms get strange.

Rapid hormonal crashing

Levels don't decline politely. They swing and drop, and your body feels every swing.

Secondary metabolic hormones

Hormones like insulin and cortisol shift right along with everything else.

And sometimes the culprit isn't a sex hormone at all. Low iron, low vitamin D, or low B vitamins can look a lot like hormone trouble. That's why a baseline across the board matters more than testing one thing.

The "normal" trap

Lab reference ranges adjust for age. If you're 52 and your estrogen is near zero, the lab marks it normal, because it's normal for menopause.

Normal for your age doesn't mean normal for you. You can be in range and still feel terrible.

Men, this applies to you too

Less energy. Less drive. Belly fat that wasn't there before, muscle that's harder to keep, sleep that doesn't recharge you, and a shorter fuse than you used to have.

Testosterone is usually the first suspect, but it's rarely the only one. Cortisol, insulin, iron, and vitamin D can all play a part, and a "normal" result can still be low for you. Same assessment, same panel, same answer: find out what's actually off.
